Four generations ago in the 1930s, our great grandfather Mohammed Rashid started a catering business – cooking at community events in a tiny village in North East Pakistan. His food became legendary, influenced by traditional Pakistani dishes such as Biriani, Jhelumi and Handi.
Mohammed’s son Mirza Rashid later moved the business to Nakodar, where he set up a bustling local restaurant, cooking his father’s much-loved dishes.
In 1969, it was Mirza’s son Mohammad Rashid who brought this passion to the UK – setting up a food wholesaler servicing local shops and restaurants. Then in 2001, his son Hussain Rashid took over the business, turning it into The Balti House.
Joined by his brothers Haroon, Mahfooz and Mahmoon, The Balti House team is as passionate as ever about sharing our food with others and cooking authentic dishes – still using many of the same recipes from far back in 1930, as well as the best quality ingredients.
It’s this winning formula of great food and excellent service that keeps our customers coming back for more.
The Balti House team are passionate about cooking authentic dishes using high quality ingredients and serving these dishes with pride.
